About the group

MAPS was constituted as a UPC research group in 2006 as the result of integrating academics and researchers of a former group with an experience of more than 10 years on network management activity and others whose expertise was in the area of network planing, architectures and service engineering. Taking advantage of the synergies and complementarity of its founders' background, the research scope of the group was established as follows:

  • Service Engineering (creation, deployment, management of context-aware ubiquitous services)

  • Management of Service-aware Networks and Supporting Resources (autonomic management systems, network virtualization)

  • Business and Economic Aspects of Telecommunication Services (SLAs, pricing)

  • Enabling Management Technologies (network virtualization, policy-based management, context-awareness, information and data modelling, reasoning and learning techniques)
